Gov. Perry Has Third Slip of Tongue

EL PASO, Texas —

What, wasn’t president Obama in El Paso in May?

Republican presidential candidate and Texas governor Rick Perry said, “And six weeks ago, the president went to El Paso and said the border is safer than it's ever been. I had no idea. Maybe he was talking about the Canadian border,” during a stop in New Hampshire.

Obama gave a speech at the Chamizal National Memorial pushing Immigration Reform during a visit to El Paso on May 10.

Perry was slamming the federal government for not doing more to secure the borders Wednesday when he misspoke.

This isn’t the first time the governor incorrectly spoke about the Sun City.

In February during a sit down with reporters he incorrectly identified Juarez — located across the Rio Grande, and border, from El Paso — as “the most dangerous city in America.”

But that wasn’t Perry's first slip of the tongue regarding the Borderland.

"You've got bullets hitting the city hall in El Paso. You've got bombs exploding in El Paso. The border with Mexico is a war zone," said Perry in a national interview with Fox News in August 2010.

Perry meant to refer to a car bombing in Juarez.

Perry said if he's elected president, he'll make sure the border is secured.
