Gas Prices Up Before Start Of New Year

EL PASO, Texas —

Retail gasoline prices across Texas went up one penny this week to reach an average of $2.86.

AAA of Texas survey results indicated the upward price follows three weeks of declines.

The association says the cost of gasoline in metro areas of Texas is 67 cents higher than one year ago.

One El Paso resident said a penny is not a lot at all.

She said gas prices are still burning a hole in her pocket book.
