SOCORRO, Texas —
Four candidates are vying for mayor in Socorro.
The candidates are seeking to fill the seat of former mayor Trinidad "Trini" Lopez, who resigned from office last October. The term for mayor is set to expire in November. The election will take place on May 11.
Jesus Alejandro Ruiz, 24, Gamaliel "Gama" Mendez, 23, Gumersindo "Gume" Cardoso, 47, and Igor Alberto Flores, 36, all have their eyes set on being the next mayor of Socorro.
