A former Dona Ana County magistrate judge said there's no need to bar him from running as a judge again because he'll never run.
The judicial standards commission is seeking to ban Reuben Galvan from ever holding a judgeship in New Mexico.
As KFOX reported in 2004, Galvan was accused of demanding sex from a Las Cruces woman in exchange for dismissing a charge against her husband.
The case went to trial but the jury deadlocked on several charges.
Galvan quit the bench.
