Former Judge Loses Appeal To Corruption Conviction

By Renee Narvaiz

EL PASO, Texas —

Former El Paso District Judge Manuel Barraza lost an appeal to have his public corruption conviction overturned.

Last year, a federal jury convicted Barraza of wire fraud and making false statements to government officials.

He was sentenced to five years in prison.

Barraza was accused of accepting a bribe and seeking sexual favors in exchange for helping a defendant.
