EL PASO, Texas —

A former El Paso Independent School District mechanic was sentenced to six years in prison for possessing child porn, federal officials said.

United States Attorney Robert Pitman and Homeland Security Investigations Acting Special Agent in Charge Dennis Ulrich said Jose Miranda, 46, had materials involving the sexual exploitation of children, and he was charged with possession and receipt of such material.

In May 2012, HSI Cyber Crimes Group special agents executed a search warrant and seized computers and other electronics from Miranda's home, officials said.

More than 5,000 videos and 130,000 images of minors engaging in sexual conduct were seized, officials said.

In October 2012, Miranda pleaded guilty.

After his sentence, Miranda will face a lifetime of supervised release, officials said.

Miranda also has to pay restitution to the victims in the videos. The amount of the restitution is expected to be decided in 30 days by U.S. District Judge Rank Montalvo.
