Former Las Cruces High School faculty member and coach George Barber was sentenced Monday.
Barber, now 45, was handed down three years in prison, the maximum penalty allowed for his conviction on two counts of criminal sexual penetration by a school employee.
He was found guilty earlier this year of having sex with a then 17-year-old student in the spring of 2005.
