First Round Of Early Withdrawal Troops Arrives

Obama's Plan Starts Taking Action

By Ric Dupont

EL PASO, Texas —

President Barrack Obama said they'd be home for the holidays, and Wednesday night, the first group of soldiers from the early withdrawal plan returned to El Paso.

About 20 members of the Fourth Brigade Combat Team, First Armored Division, arrived at El Paso International Airport on Wednesday. The soldiers were in Iraq training, advising and assisting the Iraqi Army and security forces.

The soldiers deployed in August and thought they were going to be gone for about one year.

In a press conference last Friday, Obama announced that all troops in Iraq would be home for the holidays.

Family members like Kylie Mustain, who waited for her brother at the airport and has a husband in Iraq, were elated at the news about the early withdrawal.
