LAS CRUCES, New Mexico —

A Las Cruces Fire Department truck is involved in a single vehicle crash Friday night while responding to an emergency.

Engine 5 was responding to a weather related motor vehicle accident on Del Rey Blvd. in east Las Cruces when it drove onto an icy section of road.  The driver of the fire engine lost control, causing the vehicle to slide sideways and roll onto its passenger side.

KFOX-14 iSpot reporter Daniel Vasquez sent a photo of the overturned fire engine taken before emergency crews arrived to help the firefighters.

The three firefighters in the truck all got out safely and were not injured; however, the fire engine sustained extensive damage and is out of service indefinitely.
