By Renee Narvaiz

EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso fire crews were called to a Sun Metro bus on fire at 6:23 p.m. Monday afternoon at East Overland and South Oregon.

When fire crews arrived they reported smoke and flames coming from the back of the bus. That is where the engine is located. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames. It took less than five minutes to put out the flames.

Nine people were on-board the bus at the time of the fire but were quickly escorted off the bus and away from the danger by the bus driver. El Paso fire leaders said no one was injured.

A fire investigator said this fire was accidental and caused by some kind of mechanical malfunction in the engine compartment. The cost of the damages is unknown.
