Fire Crews Battle House Fire In Central El Paso

By Martina Valverde

EL PASO, Texas —

Fire crews were called out to a fire at an apartment at 5804 Alameda Avenue Sunday night. KFOX 14 was the first on the scene as eight fire units responded to the blaze. Once on scene they could see smoke and flames shooting out of the 1000 square foot single-story apartment.

Fire leaders tell KFOX14 the fire was put out in 7 minutes depsite the gusty winds. Fire investigators said one person was inside the home at the time of the fire, but was able to escape without injury. Neighbors also had to evacuate a man who lives in a trailor just inches away from the burning apartment. Officials said since fire crews responded in just 4 minutes the trailor didn't suffer any damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials said it does appear to be suspicious. The home is a total loss. Officials estimate the damage at $35,000.
