Federal Judges Decide Against Appeal For Former Border Patrol Agents

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana —

Two former border patrol agents remain behind bars after a panel of federal judges refuses their appeal.

In a federal appeals court in New Orleans Monday, a panel of three federal judges decided against throwing out lengthy prison sentences for former agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean.

As KFOX reported in 2006, the two were convicted of shooting an illegal immigrant then claiming self-defense.

Ramos was sentenced to 12 years and Compean to 11 years in prison.
