Seventy-five-year-old Mary Herring's husband died in 2005 and since then her youngest son has gotten cancer, her other son has had six back surgeries, and she lives in a home that has bucket after bucket filled with water every time it rains.

"Leaking all over back in the back and it just wouldn't quit," said Herring.

In 2007, her insurance company canceled coverage on her home that is falling apart. In one of her son's rooms, the ceiling has fallen three times, twice nearly hitting her son.

"The room was really nice and they had it fixed up real good you know and everything, and then here it comes swinging down, and I thought, 'This is too much, I can't take anymore,'" Herring told KFOX.

With her sons' medical problems she had to choose between fixing the roof and paying for medication.

"I can't put a roof on because they want $17, $18,000 and I just don't have that kind of money," she said. "I thought, 'What am I going to do.' So I thought, 'I'm going to call Channel 14.' So I did."

With more than half the rooms of her home unusable -- with tattered ceilings and wet floors -- it is no surprise what Herring's answer was to KFOX's question: What do you do when it rains?

"I just start praying. That's all I can do," she said.
