Family Says Brother Shot Because He Refused To Give Haircut

June 25, 2006 —

El Paso police detectives believe 21-year old Ismael Arrollo is the man who shot and killed a South El Paso man in front of his home.

Sergio Garcia, 20, was shot several times on the torso in front of his father and one of his brothers.

"He was noble, he would always smile no matter if you were mad at him or sad," said Garcia's sister, Carla Sanchez.

As previously reported, Garcia's talent was cutting hair. His family said it's unfortunate that it also led to his death.

"He (the suspect) came over earlier that day and he needed a haircut and my brother said he wasn't going to do any haircuts that day and to come back tomorrow."

Police say Arollo did come back at about 3:30 a.m., when Garcia and some of his family members were still hanging out in their front yard. Police say Arrollo allegedly shot Sergio several times.

Garcia's family is also mourning the fact that he's leaving his 1-year-old son fatherless. They say his son, who lives in California, will always be a living memory of Sergio.

"We're a big family. We're eight brothers and three sisters and my parents. Right now we're just sticking together," said Sanchez.

The family is now concerned about Aroollo, who is still at large.

"We're hoping that if they do see him or if anyone knows anything to report him," said Sanchez.

Arrollo is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 160 pounds. He has very short hair, is almost bald, and has brown eyes.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at 566-8477.
