Family Loses Home In Fire

Firefighters said a fire destroyed a house in the Upper Valley Friday night.

It happened on the 4200 block of Perth when neighbors called 911.

When fire crews arrived they found flames in the guest room and the ceiling. The fire then spread to the attic and from there it spread throughout the entire home, said firefighters.

One person was in the home when the fire started but got out safely through a bedroom window.

Fire investigators said an electrical short in a lamp located in the living room was what caused the fire.

The Red Cross has offered the couple help with temporary housing.
