EL PASO, Texas —

Officers have arrested an Eastside man for aggravated assault, according to El Paso Police representatives.

Officers responded to a fight call just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

Officers arrived at the address and found one victim, William Potter, 37, lying in the street unconscious.

The investigation revealed that Miguel Olivas was driving a blue 1993 Honda Civic on Warf Cove at a high speed. That’s when Potter and another victim, Michael Anderson, 29, yelled for Olivas to slow down, police said.

Olivas turned the vehicle around and drove at Anderson, who was able to move out from the path of the vehicle.

Then, Olvias drove the vehicle at Potter, striking him and knocking him to the ground, police said.

Potter was transported to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, consisting of numerous broken bones, internal injuries, and a fractured skull.

Police found Olivas and the vehicle a short time later. They placed him under arrest and booked him into the El Paso County Jail on two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and three outstanding municipal court warrants, with bonds totaling $100,725.
