EP Sheriff's Office: Man rescued after hiking for five days

EL PASO, Texas —

A 32-year-old man is rescued after hiking in mountains for five days, El Paso Sheriff's officials said.

Authorities said a man was flagging down help Saturday afternoon on Transmountain Road, near mile marker 18.

The man told authorities he "was hiking in the mountains" and "was lost up there for five days."

Sheriff's officials said the man suffered from frost bite, cuts and scratches on his face, as well as insect bites. Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the man was taken to a local hospital.

Authorities looked to see if there were any reports of the man going missing, and there were none reported.

Sheriff's officials are still at the hospital to try and figure out how the man was lost for so long and additional details about his situation.
