El Paso’s WIC Center gets makeover

Breastfeeding room offers privacy to clients, staff

The Sunrise WIC Center revealed its makeover to the public Monday morning.

Months of renovations, which included repainting, installing new floors and expansion of the center are completed.

WIC patient services coordinator, Bertha Amaya, told KFOX14 it's all in an effort to create an atmosphere that looks more inviting.

"We have lots of new furniture, sofas, and comfortable areas for them [clients] - as well as kiddie areas for the children to occupy their time.”

A room exclusively for breastfeeding, both for staff and WIC clients, was added to allow them privacy when needed.

Monday’s debut featured breastfeeding classes, as well as local dignitaries and partners who support WIC's mission to provide nutrition education, breastfeeding support and food assistance.

The center is located at 8500 Dyer suite #54.
