EL PASO, Texas —

Twitter is being flooded by numerous El Pasoans trying to get the attention of pop megastar Justin Bieber to sing a song for their friend who recently passed away.

#JustinSingForJaqueline is a movement taking place by local high school students to get Bieber's attention to sing a song for one of his biggest fans, Jacqueline Aimee Trejo.

"Hey k-fox14 news crew and team/staff members, I am a horizon high school student and as a school we came together as one to start a trend to get @justinbieber to #JustinSingForJacqueline. And we need as much help to make a dream become reality," @Infinite_Chris said in a tweet.

Local blog El Paso 411 reported that the 16-year-old student died Feb. 20 of aplastic anemia. A large amount of Trejo's tweets expressed her affection toward the pop star.

Hundreds, if not thousands, of tweets harboring the hash tag were posted on Twitter this week in the hopes that Bieber would respond.

"She was (a very) nice beautiful girl that just passed away she was a big fan of @justinbieber it would mean a lot if we got him to sing in her memory," @iguessKay_see tweeted.

The tweets even grabbed the attention of Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts.

"@shanelight I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Your cousin was a remarkable young woman. You and her family are in my thoughts/ prayers," @RobinRoberts tweeted.
