El Pasoans Meet Police Chief Candidates

EL PASO, Texas —

Thursday night El Pasoans had the chance to come out to the Chamber of Commerce and meet one on one with each of the five candidates for police chief.

The five candidates are Deputy Chief Kenith Adcox, Retired Deputy Chief Sylvia Agular, Interim Chief Greg Allen, Assistant Chief Diana Kirk and Cmdr. Claudio Morales.

Combined the candidates have 124 years of experience, and they are all locals.

The city manager said the search has been going on since November of last year and that the department received 43 applications for the top spot.

The city manager also said public input is important in making the decision on who will be the next police chief, which is why Thursday night many came with their opinions.

"The city manager is going to make the decision based on... I hope some of the things the applicant said tonight that will help her make that decision," said Duane Shaw of West El Paso.

The candidates will take part in two more interview sessions Friday.
