El Pasoans Can Discard Their Unwanted Electronic Devices

The city of El Paso will start accepting electronic waste at its Citizen Collection Stations on Dec. 1, the Environmental Services Department announced..

To avoid contaminating the earth with lead and hazardous materials, El Paso Water Utilities bill customers will be able to discard their unwanted electronic devices, said Ellen Smyth, environmental services director.

Electronic devices to be accepted at the Citizen Collection Stations include: televisions, cameras, radios and portable music players, such as CD players and IPods; fax machines; cell phones; home and business telephones; VCR and DVD players; computers and computer accessories, such as monitors, keyboards, scanners, printers, photo copiers and webcams.

El Pasoans must present a recent water bill and identification, such as a driver’s license.

The stations are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and are located at: *4501 Hondo Pass *2492 Harrison *121 Atlantic *9000 Escobar *4200 Delta
