El Paso Woman Says Flip Flops Burned Her Feet

EL PASO, Texas —

An East El Paso woman said some flip flops she bought at Wal-Mart burned her feet. She believes they're the same flip flops that were recalled last year.

Linda Talamoni's feet are healing but the pain is still there.

"At first it's just a mark and then it starts itching real bad. It's painful. The skin starts peeling off. It's gross," said Talamoni.

Talamoni said she bought two pairs of flip flops at two different Wal-Marts in East El Paso back in August. She said she owns lots of pairs of flip flops and at first she didn't know which ones were causing the itching and burning.

"But I didn't know which ones. Until I started to look for better ways to treat my feet online where I saw a picture of the flip flops," Talamoni said.

As KFOX reported, last year Wal-Mart removed thousands of flip flops from their shelves after people claimed they caused them chemical burns on their feet. Talamoni claims the flip flops she bought recently are the same brand.

"It made me angry because they were supposed to be recalled in 2007," said Talamoni.

Talamoni contacted Wal-Mart but quickly found out the company isn't liable. She got this letter informing her that the supplier, CHT Co. will be responsible for the investigation and resolution of the claim.

KFOX tried contacting Wal-Mart officials and the an official with CHT but to no avail.

"If there's anyone out there that's gone through the same thing to just please come forward," Talamoni said.

KFOX was not able to confirm if the flip flops are the same from of flip flops that were recalled last year. Linda hopes other people will come forward in order to file a class action suit.
