El Paso Weather: Bone-Chilling Cold, Rain, Snow

By Miri Marshall

EL PASO, Texas —

Get ready for the cold. The Borderland will get hit with a winter storm that will bring temperatures down to the teens, a chance for rain and snow this week.

Monday will be breezy, with partly cloudy skies and a slight chance for rain. Highs will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s. A cold front will also accompany the system.

It will be a good idea to whip out your heavy jackets on Tuesday and the rest of the week, after temperatures plunge to 48 degrees behind the cold front. A low pressure system will give us a 20 percent chance for rain, and with a second cold front, we could be looking at a mix of rain and snow by Tuesday evening. The mountains and higher elevations will also see a better chance for snow. Overnight Tuesday, temperatures will drop to 19 degrees.

On Wednesday, daytime temperatures will not warm up more than 33 degrees and with the disturbance still in place that means a 20 percent chance for snow. Wednesday night we will get down to 13 degrees, which means you should bring in your pets and plants.

Thursday calls for another 30 percent chance for snow with highs once again not warming past 34 degrees.

The bottom line: it’s going to be cold! Stay warm and drive safely on the roads where ice may form.
