El Paso teen placed under arrest after drugs found in car

EL PASO, Texas —

According police spokesman Darrel Petry, an El Paso teen was arrested after marijuana was found in his possession at school.  

On Wednesday, Colton Poynor, 19, was charged with having 26 grams of marijuana, police said.

Police officers said they noticed a strong odor of weed coming from Poynor's car.

Poynor was driving in front of Parkland High School in the northeast when police said they spotted him.

When police pulled him over they said they found a baggie of marijuana, another container that contained 10 individual wrapped baggies of marijuana, two marijuana smoking pipes, a marijuana grinder and a digital scale.

Poynor also had a pair of brass knuckles on him, police said.

He was booked into the El Paso County Jail for possession of marijuana under two ounces in a Drug Free Zone and prohibited weapons in a Weapons Free Zone.

His bail totaled $3,750.
