El Paso man faces drug charges

An El Paso man faces drug charges after police said he had more than 2 grams of heroin and almost 14 ounces of marijuana in his possession.

Police arrested Ernesto Alvarado, 39, around 1 p.m. Thursday on the 3000 block of Alameda.

Police told KFOX14 they had been investigating reports of narcotics deals in the area.

Officers found Alvarado with 2.5 grams of heroin and 13.8 ounces of marijuana, police said.

He also had an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation.

Alvarado was booked into the El Paso County Jail on bonds totaling $4,000.
