El Paso Homeless Shelters Full

EL PASO, Texas —

As temperatures drop to below freezing some homeless families in El Paso may have nowhere to turn for help.

Leaders with the El Paso Coalition for the Homeless said all of its shelters are at capacity and they've been that way for months.

Now they’re reaching out to local churches asking them to open their doors to families in need.

Carol Bohle with the El Paso Coalition for the Homeless, said, "Our intention is to carefully screen the families that we place in churches so they don't have, you know, serious barriers. These would really be families that are homeless because of the financial issues."

Churches can contact the coalition for more information.

Bohle also said local shelters can always use any type of donation whether it's money, food or supplies.
