EL PASO, Texas —
Local elected officials said on Friday they condemned the recently passed immigration law in Arizona because it discriminates against Mexican Americans.
At a news conference, former state Rep. Paul Moreno, along with the Tejano Democrats, reminded all Americans that Mexican American soldiers fought in many wars and they were protecting all U.S. citizens.
"The only way to properly object is through the pocket books. The boycott is going to hurt Arizona very bad. This is the only thing these people understand a boycott," said Moreno.
Moreno said it is the most discriminatory law he's encountered in his many years of political service, he said everyone must act.
