EL PASO, Texas —

The El Paso County Sheriff's office spent Thursday night looking for people with outstanding warrants for unpaid traffic tickets.

Our KFOX14 News crew rode along with Deputy Enrique Lugo and his partner as they made an arrest.

The deputies started their night with a long list of names and address. No one was home at their first stop.

"The warrant roundup consists of mainly class-E citations; mainly traffic warrants. A lot of these are going to be for non-attendance," Lugo said.

The person who opened the door at the second stop told deputies the woman on their list used to be a next door neighbor.

At the next home, it looked like the deputies might finally find someone on their list.

"Where is Joshua at," Lugo asked.

"Not here," said an unidentified man.

"Not here?" Lugo persisted, "Where is he?"

The man told the deputies Joshua was in California.

So the deputies asked him for his identification.

"OK, partner, as it turns out you have your own warrants, and we are going to put you under arrest," Lugo said.

Alexander Hernandez was handcuffed, put in the back of a police car and taken to the El Paso Detention Facility, Lugo said.

Hernandez reminded the deputies he was not the man they were looking for, and that his name was not on their warrant round up list.

Lugo told him that defense probably would not sway a judge.

"Citations are - you can ignore them but they won't go away. They are going to pop up. From time to time, people get pulled over and they will have their names run, and they will pop up. They don't go away," Lugo said.

The whole operation ran for four hours, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m Thursday.

There is no word on how many arrests were made.
