El Paso County Crews Clean Up After Storm

CANUTILLO, Texas —

When the rain came down Sunday, it poured.

“There was a big rain,” said Emilia Marmolejo, who lives in Canutillo. “We need the rain. It’s good to have the rain,” she said.

But what Marmolejo doesn't need is the flooding. To make sure she doesn't get it, El Paso County crews were in her neighborhood on First Avenue and West Street pumping rain water.

"The county is really on top of it because after the last flood, sometimes even at night you see the trucks there," she told KFOX14.

County crews spent the day pumping water from a ditch to an area where the water would eventually flow into the Rio Grande river.

KFOX also found out that crews pumped water out of San Elizario, East Montana, Sparks and Horizon City on Darrington Road.

On Doniphan Road, KFOX found the yards of some businesses flooded, like Building Specialties.

In Socorro, crews worked to clear a dirt road to make it easier for drivers to get through.

Marmolejo considers herself lucky she missed the worst of the storm.

"It wasn't as bad as other times, because I mean other times it's been worse," said Marmolejo.
