El Paso city manager apologizes for derogatory comments again

EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso City Manager Joyce Wilson once again apologized for comments she made about some El Pasoans regarding the Triple-A baseball stadium.

The El Paso Times reported that Wilson referred to people against the stadium as the "crazies" in an email.

Wilson admitted the remarks were disrespectful.

Rep. Eddie Holguin said Wilson and other members of the city council want this swept under the rug as soon and as quickly as possible.

"They themselves wrote some pretty harsh things about members of council and the general public, so, of course, they want this to go away as quickly as possible," Holguin said.

Wilson first publicly apologized for the derogatory comments during a live interview with KFOX14 News on election night.

"I want to apologize frankly on the record to the opponents, because I said some fairly derogatory comments about them, and certainly as opponents and citizens of this community they deserve to be treated with respect," Wilson said during the interview.
