EL PASO, Texas —

A California fugitive who authorities said has been on the run since a 1991 murder case was captured at an El Paso port of entry.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the El Paso port of entry on Monday arrested Rojelio Reyes Calvillo, 35, on an outstanding homicide warrant in Santa Ana, Cali.

The arrest happened at Bridge of the Americas around 8 p.m. when officers were inspecting Calvillo. According to CBP officials, Calvillo presented documents that alerted authorities that he had active warrants. A fingerprint scan confirmed that Calvillo was the man sought on a May 2010 homicide warrant and an August 2009 parole violation warrant, said CBP officials.

He was turned over to the El Paso Police Department and booked into the El Paso County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition.
