LAS CRUCES, New Mexico —

You've heard of the four-minute mile, a benchmark for runners. But less known is the four-minute enchilada, a new milestone for super-eaters.

For the first time this year, The Whole Enchilada Fiesta, which starts today, is hosting an eating contest featuring its namesake Mexican food dish. There's a $1,000 top prize.

Competitors will put their chow skills to the test to down four pounds of cheese, onions and tortillas - all slathered in hot red chile sauce.

Called the "Fire in the Whole," the competition is open to anyone willing to fork out the $20 cash entry fee and fork up what could be four pounds of spicy, tastebud pain.
