Dog with electrical cord collar taken in animal abuse case

EL PASO, Texas —

A deputy on an animal cruelty call found a dog tied with an electrical wire around its neck Thursday. 

The El Paso County Sheriff's deputies went out to the 300 block of Estancias Linda around 9 a.m. in reference to animal cruelty, said deputies.

Two German shepherds who belonged to Jesse Garcia were found at that location in poor condition without food and water, said deputies.

Both dogs were tied up in the back of the house. One of those dogs had electrical wiring around its neck, said they deputy.

An animal control unit was requested. Both dogs were taken.

Deputies said an investigation is ongoing.
