The flight monitors on Thursday look almost identical to passengers as they did last week. And the stories are the same.
"She was supposed to have been here at 10 o'clock this morning," said Martha Graham, an El Pasoan waiting for her grandchild to fly in.
Graham's granddaughter, Mallory, is flying in from Denver, where the city battles another winter storm. As the hours tick away, the storm gets worse. And that's why some airlines like United stand prepared.
"We have canceled about 120 flights that operate between 5 p.m.. and 11 p.m. tonight," said Robin Urbanski, a spokeswoman for United Airlines.
While cancellations don't sound good, it's the best thing that could have happened to hundreds of passengers traveling this weekend. By canceling flights for Friday, when the storm is supposed to be at its worst, United is able to rebook passengers on new flights to avoid the storm.
"So, they could stay at home and wait for the storm to pass rather than go to the airport and try to rebook once they know their flight has been canceled," said Urbanski.
When Mallory finally made it to El Paso, she told her grandmother the Denver airport was packed with people.
"It was very busy, and it took me about an hour and a half just to get through the check-in," said Mallory.
Although Mallory was scheduled to fly out Thursday, she said hundreds of people who were rebooked for this morning caused a backup at check-in and security checks, causing her to miss her original flight and fly on stand-by.
United Airlines is waiving rescheduling fees for passengers traveling from Dec. 20 to Dec. 30 to and from the state of Colorado.
But passengers need to contact United or their travel agent and rebook by midnight of their travel date.
