EL PASO, Texas —

The Union Bank and Trust Building located on San Antonio Street near the Camino Real Hotel and Plaza Theatre is being demolished.

In December, El Paso City Council voted unanimously to have it torn down.

According to our news partner, The El Paso Times, River Oaks Properties president Adam Frank said it would cost more to renovate the building than to construct a new building in its place.

The four-story building was designed by architect Henry C. Trost, also known as "the architect of the southwest."

City Council also approved the demolition of another building built by Trost, the John Muir Building. It sits on the corner of Mesa and Mills.
