EL PASO, Texas —

After a KFOX investigation, the owner of an East El Paso body shop has been arrested on a charge of deceptive business practice.

A number of customers have come to KFOX claiming CRL Collision took their money, but refuse to return their vehicle.

CRL’s owner, Cesar R. Lopez, was arrested Thursday by the El Paso County Attorney’s office.

"The goal here is to try to get restitution and try to get justice for the victims of these crimes, in some instances it may be a matter of trying to get their cars back for them," said El Paso County Attorney JoAnne Bernal.

Bernal said, so far, Lopez has been accused of taking $7,000 last May to repair a car, but a year later his shop has not returned the vehicle in question.

"We expect other individuals who have similar complaints to come forward. We expect to be filing both criminal and civil cases regarding this business," Bernal said.

Bernal said she has received seven complaints from El Pasoans with similar stories about CRL. She expects the charges against Lopez to grow.

"We're glad they came to KFOX in this instance because hopefully she and the other victims in this incident will ultimately get their cars back and hopefully get some justice," Bernal said.
