El PASO, TX —

El Paso police are asking for the public’s help in finding a possible child predator that allegedly inappropriately touched a 3-year old boy in an El Paso Wal-Mart store.

Police said on Oct 5, at about 1 p.m. a woman who was shopping at the Wal-Mart store on Alameda near Loop 375 let her son use the men’s restroom because the women’s restroom was closed for cleaning.

The woman said after a few minutes she called loudly to her son and got no answer so she entered the restroom. The woman allegedly found a man standing behind her son with his hands on the child’s hips.

The suspect then left the store quickly.

Police said an officer who was in the store on another matter responded immediately. The child reported that the man had touched him.

The mother told the officer that the suspect seemed “slow” mentally. The man was recorded on surveillance video and is described as a heavy-set Hispanic male, possibly in his 30s with black hair. He was wearing a dark blue T-shirt with a small logo on the front and a large round logo on the back, blue-jean shorts and black high-top shoes with white socks.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 566-8477 or visit www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org.
