Crash Takes Out Light Poles

Related

EL PASO, Texas —

A car crash early Wednesday morning left a traffic signal in pieces and a street light on the ground. It happened on Montwood Drive and Yarbrough Drive at midnight.

El Paso officers arrested the driver of a black SUV after they said she failed a field sobriety test. Several Albertsons employees witnessed the accident, which happened next to the store. They told police the driver slammed into the poles head-on and the vehicle started spinning out of control on the opposite lanes where officers found it.

The wreck also caused an oil spill on the roadway, and left traffic signals out of order for several hours. The city street department has already replaced the broken signal. El Paso Electric will be replacing the street light later.

No one was hurt. The 22-year-old driver faces charges of driving while intoxicated.
