Crash Slows Morning Commute

EL PASO, Texas —

A rollover crash on one of the city's busiest roads in East El Paso slowed down traffic for morning commuters.

"When I saw it I was a bit surprised. I was like, oh well maybe it's something around the house and then I see the car and I was like wow,” said Andrew Gutierrez of East El Paso.

The crash happened at the intersection of Montwood and Amy Sue Drive just before 8 a.m.

"Every single time I pass down here I swear there's always close calls or something, especially by the school,” Jeremy Gutierrez of East El Paso said.

Police said it all happened when the driver of a red Honda Accord made an unsafe lane change, hitting the minivan and causing it to flip over.

The crash forced police to shut down one lane headed west on Montwood.

One student said accidents on Montwood Drive are all too common and from now on he'll be more vigilant.

"As long as I just keep an eye out on the road, on the side of the road then I think I’ll be fine,” said Gutierrez.

The people involved in the accident received non-life-threatening injuries. There has been no word on whether speed was a factor in this crash.
