Crash Into Northeast El Paso Light Pole Causes Serious Injuries

Paramedics transported one person to Thomason Hospital late Sunday night with serious injuries after their SUV crashed into a light pole and that pole toppled onto the vehicle.

The crash happened just before 10:15 p.m. on Fred Wilson Avenue and Airport Road.

El Paso Police Department investigators said the black Ford Focus was headed eastbound on Fred Wilson Ave. when the driver soehow lost control and slammed into the pole, knocking it out.

Officers did not immediately say if speed or alcohol played roles in the crash.
