EL PASO, Texas —
Court records show federal prosecutors have applied for a protection order to withhold the names of any minors involved in this case to conceal their identities and protect their privacy. The application filed revealed new details in the federal child pornography case against Alferez.
In addition to "commercially available" child pornography videos, investigators found 182 "hidden camera" videos on Marco Alferez's computer, the document said.
According to the court document, two video segments show Alferez having sex with "young girls" -- one time at his home and another time on school property. It said the government has confirmed the identity of one of the victims, and she was a minor at the time of the filming.
"It's actually shocking to know that that can occur at a school," said Claudia Medina, of northeast El Paso.
The court document does not reveal exactly where on school property or even which school is involved.
In addition to most recently teaching dance classes at Irvin High School, Alferez taught at Austin High School. He also taught folklorico from September 2003 to May 2004 for Ysleta ISD. From August 2007 to June 2008, he taught at Camino Real Middle and Scotsdale Elementary Schools.
Both the El Paso Independent School District and Yselta Independent School District declined to comment on the new allegations involving school property.
"I guess you're going to have to check the rooms really good," said Enrique De La Rosa, a parent of an Irvin High School student. "I know they had cameras, hidden cameras, or something."
The court document does not reveal when the video was taped on school property. It also does not reveal the age of the girl, and if she was a student or not.
In addition to the multiple federal charges Alferez faces, the El Paso District Attorney's Office expects to be presented with two, or possibly more, cases to prosecute, said spokeswoman Renee Railey.
