EL PASO, Texas —

Newly-elected El Paso County Commissioner Vince Perez's aide, Jaime Abeytia, was arrested Friday night for unlawful access to stored communication for benefit and sale, distribution or displaying harmful material to a minor, according to jail records.

Abeytia had a $7,500 bond.

The El Paso County's website shows in 2008, Abeytia was in court for a motion to adjudicate guilt. It's not clear for what type of charge.

The county's site also shows in 2004, Abeytia was charged for a computer security breach. That is a misdemeanor charge for which he was sentenced to six months of probation.

Vince Perez sent KFOX 14 this statement Sunday: "I was very disappointed to hear of this situation Friday night. Jaime is a hard worker who has been going through a very difficult and ugly divorce for nearly a year. This allegation stems from his ongoing divorce and is not related in any way to his work in the County of El Paso. While this is a personal matter for Jaime, he could still be placed on administrative leave this week if such action is warranted upon further review."
