Copper theft suspects found inside residential basement

EL PASO, Texas —

Some suspected burglars were found hiding in the basement of a home in central El Paso Friday. 

Police said they found two men who had stolen copper at a home in the 4200 block of Pershing in the afternoon. 

When police officer were able to get inside the home they found Edgar Vargas, 23, and Manuel Castro, 22, had gym bags with copper tubing from the house. 

Both men were arrested on suspicion of burglary of habitation and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
Vargas had four outstanding warrants and had his bond set at $10,489. Castro's bond was set at $10,000.
