Construction Cuts Business Profits

Motorists waiting on a road construction project along a highly-traveled road will have to wait a longer.

According to Briget Spedaleri, with the New Mexico Department of Transportation, the construction along Picacho Avenue is not completed yet.

Spedaleri says part of the project has been delayed because utilities have had to be removed and replaced. Also, landscaping around the road is taking longer than expected.

Meanwhile, some businesses along Picacho Avenue say business has decreased since the project started in 2004.

"The road was supposed to be finished last summer, and then they posted a sign late summer, and then a sign went up December 2005; it's not nearly finished now," said Grant Taggart, vendor at Peddler's Pavilion.
