Concordia Cemetery Beefs Up Security On Halloween

EL PASO, Texas —

It's considered one of the most haunted places in El Paso, where more than 60,000 people are buried. But on Halloween, the problem at Concordia Cemetery isn't ghosts -- it's people.

"Tombstones being knocked over, animal sacrifices, gang-related graffiti," Concordia Heritage Association President Patricia Kiddney said.

So to keep trouble out, this year the cemetery is taking matters into its own hands.

"All five gates are locked, and we're going to have security roaming around," Kiddney said.

So for those looking for something scary on Halloween, you won't find it at Concordia, where at least the dead can rest in peace.

"The dead are dead, and they don't come back," cemetery visitor Carmen Carrasco said.
