Colleague Responds To Actions Of Rep. Quintana

EL PASO, Texas —

El Paso City Rep. Rachel Quintana and her attorney said they believe city manager Joyce Wilson filed the police report regarding Quintana's alleged wrongdoings, for political reasons.

Quintana said in Tuesday morning's council meeting, “The bad faith exhibited by some in positions of authority in pursuing formal police investigations deprive me of the ability to respond in reference to the malicious reports. I am part of the minority on council that opposes tax increases, because of that anti-tax increase position, I have been attacked relentlessly, and in spite of that, I will continue to fight higher taxes."

Quintana’s colleague, Rep. Susie Byrd responded to those comments by saying, “I think (it) is absolutely wrong of her to do. If she did something wrong she should accept responsibility for it, and move on. It's not fair, I think, to then to try and divert attention to something she may or may not have done wrong, and try to turn it into some political battle."

Byrd said she believes Quintana's comments at Tuesday’s city council meeting may just add more fuel to the fire.
