Cold Remains Today; Freeze Warning In Effect For Friday

El Pasoans woke up Thursday morning and found a blanket of snow on the Franklin Mountains.

The National Weather Service said a few flurries or light snow showers will linger east of El Paso Thursday morning.

A freeze warning is in effect for the Borderland for Friday staring at 3 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Below freezing temperatures are expected for Friday morning.

A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are highly likely according to the National Weather Service.

Sunny, with a high near 54. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph are forecasted for Thursday afternoon.

Thursday Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 30. West northwest wind between 5 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

A strong cold front swept across the area Wednesday bringing much cooler air with it. Clouds will likely keep most low temperatures in the Borderland just above freezing Thursday morning. However, skies should be mostly clear Friday morning so low temperatures are expected to fall below freezing.
