City Rep, UTEP Students Hold Discussion On Legalizing Drugs

Related

EL PASO, Texas —

A UTEP student group that advocates the legalization of drugs along with Rep. Beto O’Rourke and an ex-drug enforcement agent will gather to discuss the ramifications of legalizing drugs on Thursday night.

Terry Nelson, a 30-year veteran of a number of law enforcement agencies, now believes that legalizing drugs would be the most logical thing to do.

The discussion will include Nelson’s personal story, along with an open discussion about the pros and cons of legalization.

Many advocates of legalization believe the ongoing violence at the border would stop if drugs became legal.

The meeting is open to the public and begins Thursday at 6 p.m. in the UTEP student union in room 312.
