Cause Of Tuesday's Warehouse Fire Determined

EL PASO, Texas —

Investigators with the El Paso Fire Marshals believe they have found the cause of a fire that involved a late model flatbed truck that then extended into a warehouse downtown.

A spark ignited gasoline vapors as gasoline was coming through a gasoline container on the flatbed truck into a smaller plastic container. The fire spread quickly throughout the nearby warehouse.

More than 17 units with the El Paso Fire Department fought the warehouse fire on the 100 block of N. Cotton Street in downtown El Paso, according to officials.

More than 50 firefighters battled the fire at 140 N. Cotton, Street Construction and Environmental Consultants Inc., for over an hour.

The fire was brought under control Tuesday evening.

Total damages were estimated at $40,000.
