Car Knocks Out Fire Hydrant, Utility Pole

A busted fire hydrant and a downed utility pole caused continuing problems for morning drivers in Central El Paso.

According to the El Paso Police Department, a woman fell asleep behind the wheel of her car after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, near the intersection of Montana and Octavia.

Officers closed down all the lanes on Montana for a few hours.

The car then hit the pole, knocking it down. It also completely took out a fire hydrant nearby.

El Paso Electric and water utility crews were called out to remove and replace the pole and hydrant.
